Floriane Robins-Brown, Executive Director/CEO is the founder of Nibakure Children’s Village.  Floriane is a native of Rwanda and has been in the US since 1988.  Floriane has two children, Clint Robins (19) and Elsa Robins (17). Floriane holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota as well as a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from St. Mary's University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She also holds a degree in Modern languages from Institut Superieur Economique d’Ixelles, in Belgium.  Before moving to the US, Floriane worked as a News Radio broadcaster in French in her native country; as a Bilingual Executive Assistant for UNDP and UNICEF, a freelance translator (French-English); and as an English teacher at the American Embassy in Kigali, Rwanda.  Since moving to the US in 1988, Floriane has worked in various capacities as a Personnel Assistant, a Commissary Manager at the American Embassy in Burkina Faso (West Africa), as an Executive Assistant, an International Human Resources coordinator, and as a Translation Coordinator in Minnesota.  She is planning to work with children as a counselor specifically at NCV.

Régan D. Waller is an associate attorney in the corporate group of the law firm of Dorsey & Whitney in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In addition to her general corporate practice, Ms. Waller works as a pro bono attorney counseling non-profit organizations and clients seeking asylum. Ms. Waller received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Waller received her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and French and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Iowa State University. In addition to serving on the board of Nibakure Children's Village, Ms. Waller is an active member of the Hennepin County Bar Association and the Minnesota Bar Association.

Linda Edwards has a production background in Theater Arts. She has worked for The Guthrie Theater, The Children's Theater Company, The Minnesota Opera, Sesame Street Live and various Broadway Shows. In 1990 she started Urban Animals, Inc., a product design and development company. For the past 15 years she has worked as a contract Concept Artist in the Toy and Gift Ware market. All products are conceived and developed in house by Linda. The completed prototypes and manufacturing patterns are sent to Asia for production. Linda has traveled to China and met with trading companies and manufacturers. Her licensed and trademarked products have sold in the US, UK, and Europe in retail stores, mail order catalogs, and to regional and national childcare facilities. Her designs have taken national awards, including The Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum and Gold awards, Parenting Magazine Toy of the Year, The Right Start Catalog Toy of the Year, Parent's Choice award, Parents Magazine Best Toy, Sesame Street Top Toys and Family Fun Magazine Toy of the Year. Network Credit, Lorimar Productions "Hanging with Mr. Cooper" Season Premier and Christmas episode. Formal education is Studio Arts the University of Iowa, Commercial Arts Program the University of Minnesota, and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Art Therapy from Metropolitan University.

Currently completing an A.A.S. degree in Orthotic Technology in preparation for certification as an Orthotist in the Health Care Profession.

Kristen Ainsworth is a professional with more than ten years experience in a management capacity within the medical   industry. Management experience includes total profit and loss responsibility, budget preparation, controlling expenditures, improving team performance, all activities of personnel supervision and management, insuring compliance with policies and established practices, interpreting regulations, developing excellent customer rapport, resolving problems, and project management activities.

Kris has coordinated and supervised the cost accounting and payroll departments, has analyzed productivity and profitability of key departments. She has also designed, implemented and monitored audit programs targeting accounts with large variances. Confirmed and analyzed dividends, interest rates, and maturity dates. Consistently achieved projected profit objectives. Consistently produced results beyond expectations of supervisors.

Developed trust, personal rapport, and strong working relations with volunteers and staff.  Maintained open lines of communication to identify and resolve problems quickly. Utilized technology solutions to streamline management tasks and reporting functions. Analyzed financial data and managed budget for fundraising campaigns. Conducted post-event analyses to identify strategies to improve processes for future events. Trained, monitored, and supervised volunteer and staff performance to improve services. Maintained database of volunteer participation and skills to assist future planning.

Claudia Kaul

Claudia S. Kaul holds a B.A. degree in Speech and Psychology from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.  During her senior year there she traveled on Global Semester, a half-year program of study and travel around the world in ten different countries on three continents.  This “set the stage” for her life, family and work that have been devoted to health, education, diversity and social justice issues.  She is a retired licensed social worker; having spend twenty-three years in medical social work, and two years in child protection and Aid to Families with Dependent Children.  In the public school system she served as liaison for students with truancy issues, and worked with international students, student diversity and leadership groups.  She is currently a volunteer at the local high school working with STAR/SPAA (students together against racism and students promoting Asian awareness).  Claudia has experience with fundraising and program promotion for local organizations/charities.  It has been her long-term dream to do something on a global scale and NCV is the perfect organization for her positive, creative and humanitarian energy.
Wendy Finch-McCusker

Wendy Finch McCusker is President of Israel Initiative Incorporated (III), a non-profit organization established to enhance Israel's global relations through the development of strategic partnerships and networks between the nations and Israel.

For over a decade Wendy has conducted ongoing outreaches to Rwandan refugees and Native Americans, while concurrently coordinating among the worldwide Jewish community fund raising projects for 'Ambulances For Israel' and 'Pups For Peace' as well as an historic 'Stand With Israel Rally' and annual 'Jewish Enrichment Day'. These tri-fold Rwandan, Native American, and Jewish endeavors evolved into the foundation for Israel Initiative Incorporated.
Prior to Israel Initiative Incorporated, Wendy formed a non-profit organization for the purpose of creating music to raise awareness of human affliction such as children with autism, and children/adults with AIDS, as well as creating songs calling us to pray for our enemies and songs ministering to despair and hopelessness.
Wendy received her BA degree from the Ohio State University in Photography & Cinema w/Spanish.. She was ordained by Pastors David and Ruth Yoder at Carmel Christian Church on February 19, 2005.


Shileen Groth

Shileen Groth is Director of Strategy and Marketing at RBC Correspondent Services in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she has worked since 2000. She is a member of the operating committee and the diversity leadership council. Prior to that Shileen was a small business owner in Iowa. She has three children. Shileen graduated with distinction from Iowa State University with a degree in journalism/mass communications and an emphasis in public relations. She has been involved in many civic organizations, serving in leadership positions over the past 20 years. She enjoys skiing, biking, reading and being with her children.

Linda Henderson is currently employed as Professional Advisor to the Carlson Growth Fund, a small cap growth stock fund managed by MBA students at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management. After 19 years and a variety of challenging positions, she retired from RBC Dain Rauscher in Minneapolis in 2004 as a Senior Vice President and Director of Fixed Income Research and Strategies. Linda obtained her MBA from the U of M in 1981 and also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Professionally and personally, Linda has an interest in promoting diversity and equal rights.
John Liethan

Director

John Liethen is an attorney at Dorsey & Whitney LLP, specializing in health care and nonprofit and tax-exemption issues. He counsels public, private, nonprofit and for-profit entities in the health care field, with specific emphasis on antitrust analysis and compliance, Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement and fraud issues, managed care regulations and health care service arrangements. John also conducts compliance audits and provides litigation support in health care related disputes, ranging from Medicare/Medicaid fraud to major contract disputes. Minnesota Law & Politics recognized John as a Rising Legal Star in 2003 and 2004. John is active also in Dorsey's pro-bono activities, representing individuals seeking political asylum within the United States and assisting nonprofit entities with tax-exemption applications and governance issues. Prior to working at Dorsey, John was a policy director and policy analyst in the Wisconsin State Assembly. John received his law degree from the College of William & Mary, School of Law, and his bachelor's of arts degree, cum laude, from Lawrence University, where he was a government major focusing on U.S. foreign policy.

Paul Musherure

Paul Musherure was born and raised in Uganda. Paul graduated in1996 with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor Michigan; he also graduated in 1998 with a Master's of Science (Pediatric Dentistry) from the same University. Paul also holds a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry from Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
Paul is married and has three children. He enjoys spending time with his family and is involved in his church and the local chapter of the African Christian Fellowship. He also organizes and leads annually a team of dental professionals from the United States to Uganda to give free dental treatment to AIDS orphans around the country.

Kathy Fromayan Nebo spent the first twelve years living in Monrovia, Liberia, and has made several trips to Accra, Ghana in recent months.  She is currently employed as a Child Protection licensed Social Worker at Hennepin County in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and has worked in the field of Child Protection since 2001.  She graduated from University of Minnesota with a Bachelors of Art Degree in Sociology and a Masters Degree in Social Work from California State University at San Bernardino, California in 2005.  Her continued work in the field of child protection demonstrates her commitment to the pursuit of social justice, to the enhancement of quality of life and to the development of the full potential of each individual, group and community in society.

Clet Niyikiza holds a doctorate of philosophy in both mathematics and Statistics from Indiana University-Bloomington. Dr. Niyikiza is a Vice President of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), where he is responsible for worldwide strategic management of the company's oncology discovery and development portfolio. Dr. Niyikiza spent his early career understanding why complex systems fail, from truck and aircraft engines to interplanetary spacecrafts. He joined the pharmaceutical industry in Palo Alto, CA in 1991, developing the popular pain killer drug ALEVE®. In 1993, he shifted his focus to cancer research. By 2001, Dr. Niyikiza was a Lilly Reseach Fellow and Worldwide Leader of Oncology Pharmacogenomics program. During his tenure at Lilly, he was credited for developing many medicines, including the popular anticancer drug GEMZAR® (for the treatment of pancreatic, lung and bladder cancers) and, more recently, for the successful development of the new anticancer drug ALIMTA for the treatment of mesothelioma (asbestos related) and lung cancer. Dr. Niyikiza's landmark scientific achievement that allowed successful development of ALIMTA® and other anticancer drugs of the same class, together with a look back at his life journey from his modest childhood in Rwanda, were the subject of a Wall Street Journal front page article on April 21, 2004.

Linda M. Garrett-Johnson is a consultant for Nibakure Children's Village. She is also the CEO and President of The Word Applied, LLC, a company which engages in the development of reflective business solutions designed to embody the essence of the organization. The Word Applied, LLC illuminates pathways to effectiveness and contributes to the development of capacity to sustain intended results. Linda has over 17 years of proven corporate and nonprofit experience in management, organization development, consulting and training. Linda was recently appointed by Governor Tim Pawlenty to the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Academic Excellence Foundation and she also serves on the board of Be-Active Minnesota. She has also served on the board of the Women's Foundation of Minnesota (formerly known as the Minnesota Women's Foundation), as well as the Twin Cities Urban Reconciliation Network (TURN), Neighborhood House, and Neighborhood Development Alliance. Linda has also served on the Juvenile Justice (Program, Planning, and Evaluation) Advisory Committee and the Department of Human Services/Department of Corrections Umbrella Rule Advisory Committee, as well as the Public Safety Advisory Council (appointed by former Mayor Norm Coleman). Linda holds a B.A., Management/Organization Development from Metropolitan State University and A.A.S., Business Management from New York University.
