Vocational training
Single adolescent mothers and child heads of household are common in the area near NCV. These women usually cannot continue school and must find means of economic stability.
The Vocational Training Program has two halves: In the first, women learn a variety of sewing skills. In the second, they learn to form and manage their own sewing cooperative.
NCV also provides counseling to these women as they navigate trauma and conflict within the group.
Upon graduation, each woman gets to keep her sewing machine and has the opportunity to join the co-op or seek her own employment.
